saison dupont belgian farmhouse style ale

saison dupont - 375 ml - 6.5% abv - belgian farmhouse ale

this cork popped with a mighty sound!

a nice golden color..like sparkling cider

smell - damp cellars, apples.....pepper and lemon..

mouthwise - fresh and alive with that yummy saison funkness to it, figs, wood, a bit o honey sweetness...plenty of carbonation for those awesome live yeast belches...

i cannot wait to get to the yeasty bottom and tell you about it...

this seems young..funky but young..not all that nuanced but maybe i need to try again...

't smisje

't smisje + india pale ale - brewed/bottled by de regenboog, brugge, belgium - 10%abv

this has a cloudy consistency, the color of a worn baseball glove...sediment in the bottom..when i tried to swish it with a chosptick the bottle quickly foamed up and overflowed.

nosed - yeasty white grapes, bright citrusy....

mouthed: very bright then quickly turning to hoppy bitterness with fruit in the background..this tastes like a yeasty hoppy grapefruit soda....

this is now a favorite......and i have never been too big a fan of belgians...now wait skeetor....let the man speak....i do not like my beers sweet, this one is not.......i do have my favorite belgiums (abt 12 special from st bernardus being one of them)....maybe i have just been spoiled by west coast ipa's....

i will buy this again...
